Our Signature Process
I. The Consultation & Booking
Once I receive your inquiry I will respond with my session experience guide which will allow you to read more, about the purpose, the experience, and the process behind the specific session you are interested in. A signed contract and a 50% non-refundable retainer are due upon booking to secure your date.
II. Session Guide & Planning
You’ve convinced your hubby and maybe even your kiddos to do pictures. Now comes the overwhelming and dreadful task of picking out your outfits. No worries mama, I’ve got you! Not only will you receive a style guide to help choose the most flattering styles and colors on camera, how to dress and prep dad, and tips on prepping and coordinating your kiddos to match. You also have complete access to The JKP Client Closet. No matter the session type, you can choose from 50+ handpicked gowns I’ve collected with YOU in mind! Best part? It is completely free of charge!
III. Your Session
My hope is that every session with me feels natural, timeless, and authentic. My desire is to document the real moments of your family. The personalities. The true smiles and laughter. Every second of your photo experience should feel comfortable and easy. My goal is for everyone to leave smiling and happy. Yes, that even includes dad.
IV. Gallery Delivery
You can expect a sneak peek in 48-72 hours after your session. I love sharing my top favs on Facebook and Instagram! You can expect your entire gallery in 2 weeks!
V. Prints and Frames
Prints and frames can be purchased separately. Prints can be purchased from my online print store which is connected to your gallery. Just click the little shopping cart icon on your gallery and get to shopping! We can also design custom frames for you to choose to hang your favorite portraits from your session.
Chelsea, Dylan, and sweet Dilynn Grace were complete naturals in front of the camera. Dilynn Grace slept her entire session and was so easy to photograph. Her beautiful mama wears motherhood so gracefully and authentically. Chelsea chose a stunning white gown for the JKP Client Closet which kept the overall mood and colors light, natural, and timeless.

Newborn Session
Savannah wanted to document her journey as a boy mama with her three handsome boys, Fields, Sutton, and Shep. It is so evident that all three are the definition of “mama’s boys”. There were lots of laughs, smiles, and tickles. This session was the perfect way to showcase their different personalities and changing features.

Mom & Me Session
The purpose of Shep’s milestone session was to document his first birthday. We started with some shots on the bed to showcase his sweet eyes and contagious smile. We then moved to the backdrop where Shep got to have a little fun with his smash cake! His mama chose for Shep to wear outfits from The JKP Heirloom Collection for both parts of his session. She also had plenty of adorable images to choose from!

Milestone Session
They’re only little once. As the mama to a baby boy, I can attest to this statement. In one month's time, sometimes even days, they experience new things, conquer milestones, and grow before our very eyes. It seems the only way to make time stand still is by capturing an image. Heirloom portraits are classic, timeless, and display the simplicity, elegance, and beauty of the South. For most, this is an investment clients choose to make only once throughout the younger years of their child's life.

After meeting Josie it seemed as though we had been friends forever. After experiencing the windiest day of my life and still getting back AMAZING photos, I knew I wanted to use her again. I asked her to shoot my fresh 48. Josie made everything about that day great. We used her again for our newborns and loved them! She was extremely patient when we had to pause for me to nurse and understanding when baby girl wasn’t the most cooperative. Even in all of that, she captured the sweetest pictures of our growing family! Josie is now our forever photographer and one of my closest friends.

Ideally, 7-12 days old is the perfect time for your babe’s newborn session. You are one to two weeks postpartum, allowing your body to heal. Baby has also adjusted some to their new life outside of your womb. This is also when baby is still sleeping the majority of the day!
How old should my newborn be for their newborn session?
The best time to book your newborn session is in the first or second trimester. Once you tell me your due date, I will write you down for that month. I do a limited number of newborns per month to ensure I can give my absolute best to your newest addition.
When should I book my newborn session?
The best time to document that growing belly of yours is around 34 weeks (give or take). At this point, you should be showing a little more, but you aren’t uncomfortable just yet! It is best to book as far out as possible because I only do a select number of sessions a month!
When should I book my maternity session?
No ma’am you do not! One of my favorite experiences I offer is a self-portrait session. This is where you come to the studio, pick out your FAV dress from The JKP Client Closet, and experience having your picture taken like never before! This is perfect for branding, headshots, or just because you want to treat yourself!
Do I have to be a mama to use the studio?
You do not have to worry, mama. I have thought of it all! Being a mama myself, I know how kids love to explore. Every piece of furniture was picked out with wandering hands and feet in mind.
Is the studio kid-friendly?
The JKP Studio is located in Dothan, Alabama. Fun fact: we turned my husband’s man cave into my dream, all-natural light, studio space!
